Origin
There are several theories about the origin of the Bordeaux Dog, which is also called the French Mastiff or Bordeaux Bulldog. It is believed that this dog originated from Greek and Roman Molossus. Over the centuries the Bordeaux Dog was used for many purposes. This breed has made itself useful as a war dog, guard dog and as a shepherds dogs and as a participant of doggladiator sports. During the middle ages the Bordeaux Dog changed to serve as a flock guardian and personal bodyguard.
Temperament
In time this dog is developed into a good and calm animal that is fearless and suspicious of strangers. The Bordeaux Dog is a good guard dog. This breed can be very aggressive towards other dogs and males will generally not tolerate other males. When they are socialized with other animals at a young age, this problem can be reduced. The Bordeaux Dog is gentle with children and family members. Still, this is a very powerful animal and not suitable for an inexperienced dog owner. The Bordeaux Dog tends to snore and drool.
Grooming
The Bordeaux Dog’s smooth short-haired coat is easy to look after. Brush with a firm bristle brush, and bathe with mild soap only when necessary. This breed is an average shedder.
